Lagos - São Sebastião
São Sebastião parish is the largest within the Lagos municipal footprint and covers 19,84 km² and has 11 000 habitants, and its footprint runs within the bigger part of the old city, i.e. the north portion of it, and it extends right through to portions of Meia-Praia.
Within this parish you have the small villages of Portelas, Chinicato, Sargaçal, as well as other's even smaller.
Normally, it is this parish and Santa Maria that most visitants know as "Lagos". Often, visitors do not realise that the council of Lagos comprises much more than just this parish. It is also one the best known and one of the most visited.
